We must always realize and accept that we cannot time travel immediately to our destination. This is where patience comes in. We must take it step by step, day by day, small action by action. I read a quote recently “A better version of you is on the other side of action”. Think about it…
Always remember you are not on your own with whatever issue you have right now. You share challenges and imperfections with your fellow human beings. We all make mistakes, but always keep in mind worse things happen to others. You need to mind yourself and not beat yourself up.
We can always make excuses for ourselves and for developing certain habits. However, the sooner we view our habit as an excuse for certain behaviors, the sooner we will be able to take the necessary actions to deal with the situation and work on developing a plan to counteract the negative habit formed.
Saying NO need not be viewed always as a negative in life. Once you know what serves you best and realising when saying NO can actually be of benefit to you and also be life affirming.
Saying NO usually results in saying yes to something else. As we all have limited time to do all the things we aim to do, by saying NO to one thing it can mean something else of greater importance is being dealt with.
Saying NO can mean that you need to gently refuse to fulfil another’s current request. However, by letting them know you cannot attend to their request immediately but at the same time offering an alternative.
“Over analysis can lead to paralysis”, so why do we over-analyze situations? Always remember you are not on your own with whatever issue you have right now. For me, my hope for you as we move into 2nd half of this year is for a healthier future for all and a return towards normal and post-pandemic growth. New insights, fresh perspectives and hope for a society that leaves nobody behind.
Research shows being hopeful can better enable you to embrace stress and address anxiety and adversity. Hope builds better coping skills for handling stressful situations and reduces the harmful effects of stress on the body. It shifts your thinking from what is wrong to what is strong, moving you away from the fight or flight stress response towards a recharge from stress. Hope can help protect you from accurately seeing the pain and challenges that the future may hold. This can be a good thing at times. Overall, hope builds resilience, enabling you to deal more effectively with setbacks through grit and persistence.
Once you decide for change and believe that you are capable of change and development, some form of behaviour change is required.
Once you make that decision to take action, change will begin, the amount of change that will happen will depend on the amount of actions you take.
